The impact

Every set logged in a couple of taps, mid-workout
Progress charted per lift, session after session
One app for programmes, logs and personal bests

The problem

Lifters were tracking workouts in notes apps, spreadsheets and paper logbooks. Logging a set mid-session was fiddly, programmes lived somewhere else, and there was no easy way to see whether the numbers were actually going up.

Workout logger

A workout logger built for the gym floor: big targets, last session's numbers pre-filled, a set saved in a tap.

Why it worked

Why it worked

Most fitness apps are designed to look good in a screenshot. GymTrack was designed for the forty seconds between sets, with chalk on your hands and your heart rate up. If logging a set takes longer than racking the bar, people stop logging.

Everything else follows from getting that one interaction right. Once the log is reliable, progress charts and personal bests come for free, because the data is finally there.
